Merchandising & Product Development Strategy

This course is designed to help students understand what Retailers (big and small) look for when making decisions. Merchandising Strategies are taught and refined to work in sync with sound Product Development Strategies. Students will focus on studying the current retail landscape and focus on their individual goals towards building their own sales strategy. The goal is to leave the class confident to pitch their product line to any customer they choose to focus on.

Design Strategy for Business

The Design Strategy series is a 3-part workshop series for manufacturers who are looking to gain a more “design-strategic” approach to business. Design strategy links design and business activities into a creative and cohesive strategy for creating value and a sustainable business advantage. This series will start with an analysis of your current business practices, then build on exploring individualized design strategy tools, with the final workshop focusing on real-life implementation. Manufacturers must commit to all 3 sessions to be able to participate.

Marketing Collaborations

The Marketing Collaborations Workshop is an intensive, 6-part workshop conducted by Pinar Guvenc, partner at SOUR, an architecture and design studio based in Brooklyn. The Business Meditation Incubator series is a 3-day weekend intensive focusing on business strategy and audience development through contemplative inquiry. This workshop helps manufacturers develop contemplative awareness, practices, and tools for the work environment. This workshop will cultivate organizational methods and processes that create a mindful, present, authentic, focused, honest, and reflective organization and decision-making practices. The Mindful Making Meditation Incubator series is a 3-day weekend intensive focusing on mindfulness and business strategies, including audience development through visualization and contemplative practices. This workshop helps manufacturers develop contemplative awareness, mindfulness practices, and reflection tools for the work environment. This workshop will cultivate personal and organizational methods and processes to help innovate, pivot, and stabilize in the current environment. We will create a mindful, present, authentic, focused, and honest reflective map for your business through mindful decision-making. Each participant will leave the series with 3 deliverables: 1) A mind map of strategic initiatives, a mission, and a vision with action steps for their business; 2) An audience marketing profile based on visualization exercises; and 3) A toolkit for mindfulness, meditation, and contemplative practices for self-care and stress management.
