Wing & Weft Gloves
Manhattan
Katie Sue Nicklos is the CEO and owner of Wing & Weft Gloves. Born in La Junta, Colorado, she is trained in theatrical costuming with a BA from McPherson College in Kansas and an MA from University of Northern Iowa. Since 2004, Katie has been creating custom costumes for specialty clients, which naturally introduced her to Lacrasia Gloves. Her love of creating and crafts-person-ship has been a perfect fit for glove-making, and she’s thrilled to carry this very special legacy business in New York City.
What does your company make?
We make gloves! Everything from custom crafted pieces to small batch production.
What’s the story behind your business?
Wing & Weft Gloves, formerly Lacrasia Gloves, has been providing a singular service for fashion brands across the nation since 1973. We are a one-stop “mom and pop” shop for custom gloves made in NYC’s Garment Center. We are a special “last of” legacy business — the only custom glove shop remaining in the USA with a direct connection to Gloversville, New York, the once-hub of the United States’ glove-making industry.
What is your favorite product right now?
Anything else you would like us to know?
We are a Woman-owned small business and our mission is to preserve the craft of glove-making in an equal opportunity work environment. We welcome into our team all races, ages, genders, and life preferences. We welcome into our customer base the same, with pride in aiding those who are furthering values that we represent: the fight for freedom, liberation, and justice. We value our BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ designer and stylist clients for the continual work they do to be positive presences and agents for change through fashion and design. Our business would not exist without these courageous individuals; we see creating space for their success as a badge of our own.
