Bianco Latte
On a busy Long Island City corner, a pastry shop shines—Bianco Latte. Co-owner Camilla Zanin, daughter of renowned Italian pastry chef Andrea Zanin, brings a deep-rooted passion for quality and craftsmanship to every croissant, cookie, and dessert in their kitchen.
A legacy of excellence runs deep in the Zanin family. Co-founder Andrea’s expertise spans decades—from winning Best Italian Pastry Chef in 2005 to leading Italy’s national pastry team at the World Pastry Championship. His reputation has led him to collaborate with luxury brands like Gucci, Versace, Armani, and Lamborghini, creating artisanal treats that mirror the elegance of high fashion. Now, his daughter, Camilla, is bringing that same level of Italian pastry craftsmanship to New York City through Bianco Latte.
At Bianco Latte, every ingredient matters. Camilla emphasizes that they “will never compromise on quality or health,” ensuring their pastries contain no additives and significantly less sugar than many others found in the city. “This is the product I grew up with,” she says. “Moms ask me if it’s okay for their kids, and I assure them, ‘Absolutely! Our cookies are made the old-school way, just like my grandparents baked in their home kitchens.”
Bianco Latte specializes in an array of baked goods and European pastries, with signature specialties being their desserts—especially the real tiramisu. “At the heart of everything we do is love,” Camilla shares. “Our desserts are crafted to bring joy and satisfaction without making you feel heavy or guilty.”
Last fall, Bianco Latte brought a beloved Italian tradition to New York: Panettone. “For the past few years, we made them in Italy and shipped them here, but now, we are producing our first panettone made in New York City.” Panettone, a traditional Italian Christmas cake, is a labor of love. “My dad won Best Italian Panettone, which is one of the most important pastry awards in Italy. It’s a leavened cake—not what Americans normally imagine when they think of cake. It’s dry but incredibly moist in texture, with traditional ingredients like orange zest and raisins, and we also make specialty versions like pistachio.” Unlike industrial panettone, which contains chemicals and additives, Bianco Latte’s version is made with natural yeast and an intricate, hands-on process. “It’s probably one of the most difficult pastries to make, in terms of time and care, but the flavor is incomparable.”
Despite the competitive food scene in New York City, Bianco Latte has gained a loyal following without relying on ads, influencers, or viral trends. “We’re in people’s group chats,” Camilla says. “They come in and tell us, ‘I had to bring my friends because this is the best pastry I’ve had.’ What’s better than that?”
Unique from the flagship store in Williamsburg, Bianco Latte’s new facility in Long Island City allows them to combine their retail store and wholesale production in one place, so customers can enjoy baked goods fresh out of the oven!
For Camilla, running Bianco Latte is about more than just making great pastries—it’s about building a community. While expansion is on the horizon, Camilla and Andrea are determined to maintain the soul of their craft. “I don’t want this to become a huge factory. We want to take care of our house—our neighborhood.” Employees are not only trained but also given opportunities to grow, learning from Andrea’s expertise in a collaborative and supportive environment.
Camilla envisions a future that continues giving back to the community—especially to children. “I want to do classes for children. In schools, they sometimes create cakes, and I’d love to be part of that.” With extra space in their production facility, she sees an opportunity to educate and inspire future generations. “The world we’re growing is going to be theirs one day. It’s our responsibility to educate them about love for food, sustainability, and health.”
