Madison + Green, an innovative aromatherapy brand, is the brainchild of Jasmine Bues and her mother, Mia. This mother-daughter duo has seamlessly blended traditional Thai inhalers with modern aromatherapy techniques to create a unique line of products aimed at enhancing mental wellness.

Madison + Green isn’t just about pleasant scents. “We intentionally design all our formulations to help relieve stress and anxiety at different times of the day,” Jasmine explains. Their products, such as ‘Rise and Refresh’ for the morning and ‘Need Sleep’ for nighttime, cater to various emotional and situational needs. “Mental wellness is a huge part of this aromatherapy brand,” she says.

The idea for Madison + Green was sparked during Jasmine’s honeymoon in Thailand. She discovered traditional Thai inhalers, small plastic tubes filled with essential oils, which she and her mother found effective for stress relief. “Every time we felt stressed out at work, we found ourselves reaching for these inhalers,” Jasmine recalls. This experience led her to pursue certification in aromatherapy and meditation, solidifying her passion and career path.

Mia and Jasmine split their duties at Madison + Green, embracing their individual strong suits. Jasmine, a NAHA®-certified clinical aromatherapist and MNDFL®-certified mindfulness meditation instructor, uses her expertise to fine-tune their scents to be the most effective. “My mother’s been doing wholesale business pretty much since my childhood. So I always consult with her when making any business decisions,” says Jasmine.

Madison + Green was officially launched in early 2020, just before the pandemic hit. Their first show at New York Now in February 2020 was a success, but the ensuing pandemic caused most orders to be canceled.

The pandemic forced Madison + Green to pivot and adapt. They expanded their product line and leveraged social media to build a community. “Mental wellness products became highly sought after during and post-COVID,” Jasmine notes. This demand, coupled with their innovative approach, helped the brand thrive. Now in their third production space, located in NoMad, Jasmine finally feels they have the space necessary to breathe.

Madison + Green’s signature inhalers are a blend of traditional Chinese medicine herbs, spices, and essential oils, designed to be both aesthetically pleasing and effective. “We wanted to design something that was visually attractive and completely recyclable,” Jasmine explains, motioning to their plant-based ingredients encased in glass jars with recyclable aluminum lids. Their products cater to various markets, including wellness studios, spas, and luxury resorts, with custom formulations available.

Making a meaningful impact on their community is a priority for Jasmine and Mia. They actively participate in local events, collaborate with wellness studios, and offer workshops to educate people about the benefits of aromatherapy. “We want to give back to the community that supports us,” Jasmine says. They have partnered with local organizations to provide mental wellness resources and support, especially during the challenging times of the pandemic.

Madison + Green continues to innovate, recently launching a stylish, waterless, rechargeable diffuser. Jasmine also offers aromatherapy meditation classes, combining the benefits of essential oils with mindfulness practices. As they look to the future, Jasmine sees the value in networking and exploring new opportunities, like their success at the 2023 JFK Terminal 4 holiday pop-up event, made possible through a connection from Made in NYC. “That wasn’t an opportunity that we would have ever dreamt of,” says Jasmine.

Madison + Green’s evolution from a personal journey in Thailand to a thriving wellness brand in New York City underscores how innovation and passion can emerge in the most unexpected ways. Just as Jasmine and Mia discovered, true success often comes to those who remain open to inspiration and embrace the unexpected twists along their path.
