New York Embroidery Studio
When a longtime client, Ralph Lauren, approached them in 2010 and asked for their help creating the Team USA uniforms for the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia, Michelle and the NYES team seized the opportunity. This was the first time in decades that Team USA uniforms would be made in the USA. In order to produce the order on time, New York Embroidery Studio had to upgrade their equipment and acquire an assortment of modern and antique specialty stitching and cutting machines.
Through a grant from the Fashion Manufacturing Initiative—a program that supports fashion manufacturers in machinery upgrades—NYES was awarded $67,000 to offset the purchasing of new equipment, including an embroidery machine with laser capability, a digital fabric printer, and a computer-controlled cutting machine. With this new capability, New York Embroidery Studio produced the Team USA uniforms worn in Sochi on schedule, and had a new edge over competition in the global market for garment manufacturing.
The company is expanding into mobile embroidery services with an on-demand embellishment truck that will make New York Embroidery Studio’s services available for business-to-business partnerships across the city.
