Reap What You Sew
Meet Sophie Pulver, a queer, non-binary artist and the creator of Reap What You Sew, a hand-crafted jewelry and embroidery brand. Sophie’s art was born from self-taught skills developed during lockdown and a desire to communicate their pronouns and challenge misgendering. “I saw a friend wearing a necklace with her name and I thought how it would be great if I had my pronouns instead. It snowballed from there.” Their art explores all kinds of queerness and provides representation and visibility to everyone.
For Sophie, being an LGBTQ+ owned business means being unapologetically themselves. They express it as being "loud as shit” and embracing their queerness with joy in every space they inhabit. They want their community to feel seen, to lean into their queerness, and to create connections and confidence. “I want my queers to know how fantastic they are for the exact type of queerness THEY are,” Sophie proudly declares.
Their advice for fellow LGBTQ+ artists is, “Do it. Like, literally just do it. Your art has value and there will be gays who want it. Ask for help. Talk to other queer artists. Find community – we are here, and want to help you grow.”
