Amplifying Black Manufacturers and Makers
The racial wealth gap in the United States is a product of generations of systemic inequality, lack of funding and resources in our public education systems, barriers to employment opportunities, and poor access to capital. These challenges, compounded by the devastating economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, have created substantial systemic barriers for Black and African American entrepreneurs to develop, expand, and grow their own business. Simply put, Black-owned businesses have to fight harder and longer to sustain.
Using your purchasing power, you can help better distribute wealth in New York City, by supporting the fantastic local Black-owned brands. The following is a list of Black-owned Made in NYC members for you to support now and always. The list is a work in progress, but as more information is provided, it will grow and become more expansive.
