D’s Delights

Brooklyn

“I want people in my community to realize that they can find their passion at any stage of life,” says Deidra McNish-Brown, a first generation-American born and raised in East Flatbush, Brooklyn. A registered nurse, Deidra found her passion for jewelry-making while watching a beaded bracelet tutorial at 2 AM, exhausted from working at two different hospitals for six consecutive days early in the pandemic. The first customers of D’s Delights Bklyn were fellow nurses and doctors, but these days Deidra’s jewelry can be found at pop-up markets across NYC and at Da Spot NYC at City Point BKLYN.

“I mix and match my materials to make unique pieces that stand out from the rest. It is not enough for me to make pretty pieces – I strive for my pieces to be eye-catching, bold, and unexpected. I personally don’t fit into any one box and my jewelry creations reflect that.” Deidra favors semi-precious gemstones, African recycled glass, bone, and wood beads to cultivate her unique, small batch designs, and makes each piece herself.
