After developing severely sensitive skin, Brooklyn born-and-raised Puerto Rican Vivian Zavala realized that she wanted to take natural skincare into her own hands. Vivian founded Treasured Soaps and Candles in 2021, where she combined years of research, dedication, and knowledge to carefully craft formulas for natural artisan skincare products “full of the essentials your body deserves.”

“As someone from the ‘older’ generation, software walked hand in hand between challenging and necessary for my business inventory and expenses,” Vivian shared when asked what challenges she has faced as a woman business owner. “Nothing could get in the way of my dream, not even a computer. In reality, I owe it to my barriers as each challenge faced made me truly knowledgeable — while creating an even deeper unexplainable love for my craft. As my fellow business women know, the list of barriers can seem never-ending, but it doesn’t stop us. Barriers and challenges can only strengthen us.”
